I occasionally peruse the marketplace listings on Facebook to see if there’s things I never knew I wanted but suddenly need to have. I had great success buying some Game Boy games from a guy just a couple of weeks ago, which is quite encouraging. There are a lot of books for sale, people trying to hock old iPods now that the new ones are out, people looking to get rid of furniture or other random items, and the occasional car and apartment.
Call my optimism flushed down the toilet, because today I came across this listing:

Really, dude? Really? I appreciate your desire to earn a quick buck - I like money as much as the next guy and am also a poor college student - but really? First off, who’s reading Facebook that’s going to see your posting. Secondly, what makes you think that your laptop is going to get any more attention than any other during the day? You claim 5 to 8 hours of visibility, but how much of that is spent in areas where you’re going to be seeing the same people every day? This includes classes, labs, and any regular place that you study on a given day. How many people during that period will take notice of your laptop? How much turnover will you produce and how will the advertiser know that they’re getting their money’s worth? If perhaps you had a prolific position in which your laptop would be seen by tens of thousands of people I would understand. Otherwise you just look like you really like Under Armour a lot.

You probably weren’t paid to advertise Apple. In fact, in a way you actually paid for the privilege of representing Apple. Kind of detracts from the other logos, doesn’t it?
So here’s an idea - earn your money. The only person more ignorant is the one who actually purchases the advertising space. Speaking of which, how much to get the big VF circle with a 6-inch diameter smack dab in the middle?
