The Greater Miami Area
Photograph by Ralph Munroe (Bush 1)
If looking through an old photo album about Miami one might get a deep sense of history . If it were another certain set of photographs, one might think of Miami as being all glitz, glamour, and neon colors. And with another set, one might think of Miami as being a hub of racial tension. This is the power that photographs have: teaching people history through purely visual means. In order to get the full effect of Miami these types of catagories and everything inbetween must be examined. Beyond this, to understand the history, one must look at decades of photographs to aquire the full range of events that shaped the city. It is in this regard that the following photographs have been selected to represent a few of the key issues facing Miami since it was first founded.
