Film and Television

This topic is basically a vessel for a personal agenda. I actually bring up film and television in an attempt to move away from the common view of analyzing video games in terms of their "filmlike" qualities. The purpose of a video game is to provide for an experience of interaction. When viewing video games in terms of their collage properties it is important to take the game as a specific and distinct medium. I have attempted to analyze each section in terms of how the collage makes the video game experience unique. One should not discredit the value of using other mediums to study video games... but academics should keep in mind that only though synthesis with those properties that make a game unique can the true nature of the video game be discovered.

The image I used at the top represents this changing environment. The door connecting games to film is waiting to be shut but film will still have a way of influencing how people look at games.
