At around 6PM X-Strike Studios premiered the new film Project: Snake (Low Budget Espionage), and let me be one of the first to announce on the Internet that it was awesome. Based on Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid, Project: Snake was a hilarious spoof (and not at the expense of the story). They did have a few technical glitches (i.e. a bunch of their audio tracks dropped out in the last part of the movie), but it didn’t detract from the overall high production values. This is certainly X-Strike’s best movie to date.

Writer and director Darrin DeMarco came up with an extremely solid script which worked well all the way through. Project: Snake was like a mix of River City Rumble’s sense of humor with Silent Horror’s maturity. Rory O’Boyle does a fantastic job as Snake, showing off his skills as a good actor (one of the hardest things to come by in a low budget film, because of casting constraints). DP Tim Ekkebus has fine-tuned his eye behind the camera. The soundtrack done by J: Drive and Digimatic of Wave Theory emulated the original game perfectly. A longer review will make its way onto the site once I can get a hold of a copy of the film, but for now, this will have to do. I highly suggest you pre-order it as soon as the option is made available on the site. I trust you won’t regret it.
